By Youth and for Youth: UNESCO launches Global Youth Poster Contest on Media and Information Literacy

To mark the upcoming Global MIL Week 2016 Feature Event, UNESCO is launching a Global Youth Poster Contest on Media and Information Literacy (MIL).

The Feature Event takes place from 2 to 5 November 2016, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“The objective of the competition is to stimulate youth involvement in the Global MIL Week 2016, and to strengthen their knowledge in MIL,” says Alton Grizzle, UNESCO programme specialist coordinating the Week.

The winners will receive official acclaim and visibility for their work from the organizers of the Global MIL Week 2016.

How to participate?

This contest is exclusively open for young people. Candidates should:

  • Read the official website of the Global MIL Week 2016 at: https://en.unesco.org/global-mil-week-2016 in order to have a grasp of the rationale of the Global MIL Week 2016.
  • Design posters in relation to the Global MIL Week in using text, graphics or photos, relevant to MIL and its related areas, such as media, ICTs, libraries, museums etc., in all possible formats.
  • Submit the work to ji.xu(at)unesco.org.

Prize:

  • The selected posters will be featured on the official website of the Global MIL Week 2016 and will be displayed at the event venue in Brazil in the forms of large-scale banner or kakemono.
  • The winners will receive an honourable mention and a joint certificate from UNESCO and the University of Sao Paulo.

Technical requirements:

  • The submitted works must be in vector format.
  • The works should reserve space for logo insertion.

Deadline for submission: 28 October 2016.

By submitting entries to the contest, candidates agree to grant UNESCO the right to publish, reproduce, diffuse, and communicate to the public in any form and platform, including digital, all or in part of the design.
