OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST:

Under the authority UNESCO Office and under the direct supervision of the National Education Officer, the consultant shall perform the following duties:

  • Coordination between UNESCO Office and project stakeholders to determine event
  • Requirements, logistics, procurement, drafting budgets, Event agenda, invitee list and
  • Administering of events: workshops, special celebrations and conferences.
  • Tracking progress of project outputs and activities for weekly briefing to Project Management Team (PMT) and to prepare a detailed monthly progress report on the project status.
  • Track media campaigns progress and ensure efficient and effective steps taken towards the media campaign objectives.
  • Coordinate Missions, Events, and workshops outside Khartoum.
  • Ensuring all documentation is maintained appropriately for project and help manage resources and information and assist with scheduling and planning meetings and project activities.
  • Attending and participating in project meetings with project stakeholders, beneficiaries, National Team, PMT, National Experts and potential project partners.
  • Editing, reviewing and translating any material as required from Arabic language to English language including, reports, agenda, narration of videos.
  • Drafting invitation cards, posters, banners, file jackets and notepads.
  • Support Education Office in implementation of programs.
  • To facilitate liaison between UNESCO, stakeholders and partners.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Education

Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, or a relevant degree.

 

Work Experience

  • Demonstrated 3 years (minimum) working experience of which at including 1 year in project management in Education projects.
  • Ideally, prior UNESCO or UN working experience.
  • Developed detailed project action plans, budgets, events planning, workshops, meetings, conferences, visibility  etc.
  • Developed ToRs, coordinated purchases, tenders, contracting  of suppliers and contractors.
  • Local experience in inclusive education projects in Sudan, involving relevant government institutions and schools.
  • Familiarity with different types of disability in the education context.
  • Knowledge of implementation and management of Resource Rooms.

 

Deliverables

The consultant shall submit to UNESCO Khartoum updated progress reports on a monthly basis as follows:

D1. Submit to UNESCO Khartoum a monthly progress report on activities with summary of workshop outcomes based on the project results framework for the month of September 2021, by 30 September 2021.

D2. Submit to UNESCO Khartoum a monthly progress report on activities with summary of workshop outcomes based on the project results framework for the month of October 2021, by 30 October 2021.

D3. Submit to UNESCO Khartoum a monthly progress report on activities with summary of workshop outcomes based on the project results framework for the month of November 2021, by 30 November 2021.

D4. Submit to UNESCO Khartoum a monthly progress report on activities with summary of workshop outcomes based on the project results framework for the month of December 2021, by 30 December 2021.

 

Skills/Competencies

-Excellent analytical, planning, budgeting and reporting skills.

-Strong writing and communication skills in English and Arabic.

-Knowledge of UNESCO procedures and guidelines.

-A Team player.

-Able to work independently under pressure and willing to travel out of Khartoum on missions.

 

Languages

Fluency in English and Arabic languages.
