Promotion of the Belarusian culture internationally

Some activities aimed at the development of international cultural relations have taken place.

The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus has been actively engaged in the work of the International Committee for Organizing Folklore Festivals, the International Folk Art Council, and the International Council of Museums.

Cultural institutions have been involved in both UNESCO and IFESCCO projects.

The participation of the Republic of Belarus in the initiative "Eastern Partnership" has become more active.

Annually, a representative of the Republic of Belarus has taken part in the meetings of the Steering Committee for Culture, Heritage and Landscape of the Council of Europe.

During the reporting period, five intergovernmental and 16 interministerial agreements in the field of culture have been concluded, as well as a number of agreements with some regions of the Russian Federation.

A memorandum on cooperation within the Community-led Urban Strategies in Historic Towns project of the Council of Europe (COMUS) was signed.

During 2013-2015, Belarus opened a number of cultural centers in other countries: the Belarus Information and Cultural Centre in Latvia (2013), the Cultural Center in the Republic of Moldova (2014), the Business And Cultural Complex at the Belarusian Embassy in Russia (2015), the Belarusian Cultural Center (as a public association) France (2015), the Belarusian Information And Cultural Centre at the National Library of Pakistan (2015).

In 2011–2015, Days of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Days of Cinema of the Republic of Belarus were held in more than 20 countries around the world.

Within the Belarus Today Project, the National Library of Belarus has been cooperating with the largest libraries of the world. During 2013-2015, more than 900 unique books about culture, history and traditions of the Belarusians were forwarded to the national libraries of 11 countries.
