It's an international programme which consists of a fund executed through the development of contests in each country member of the program. In Uruguay Ibermusicas is managed by the music work area in the National Cultural Directorate. As the result of a selection process, certain artists receive support to take part in international musical events. In order with the terms established and the programme's criteria,, each country makes a pre-selection of projects, which are evaluated afterwards in order to achieve an agreement between the whole members.

The program is very well evaluated in general and in relation to the amount invested from the state. However, an in-depth evaluation of the program will soon be carried out in order to make the modifications that are considered pertinent
