Element Nha Nhac, Vietnamese court music (Viet Nam)
Inscribed in 2008 (3.COM) on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (originally proclaimed in 2003)
Title EN: An essential part of royal ceremonies, court music was a means of communicating with and paying tribute to the gods and kings as well as transmitting knowledge about nature and the universe. This musical tradition has been kept alive by the few surviving former court musicians.
Title FR: Élément fondamental des cérémonies royales, la musique de cour était un moyen de communiquer avec les dieux et les rois, de leur rendre hommage, et de propager des connaissances sur la nature et l’univers. Le Nha Nhac a été maintenu grâce aux quelques musiciens de cour encore vivants.
Title ES: La música de la corte, elemento fundamental de las ceremonias reales, permitía comunicar con los dioses y los reyes y rendirles homenaje, así como transmitir conocimientos sobre la naturaleza y el universo. Esta tradición musical se ha mantenido viva gracias a los escasos músicos de corte que aún siguen en vida.
