LAB.2030 | Global Forum 4Literacy and The Traveling Books: Inspiring Children Through Books

LAB.2030 | Global Forum 4Literacy and The Traveling Books: Inspiring Children Through Books

When:
Tue, 06/12/2018

Supporting literacy for vulnerable communities in Durban, South Africa, the Global Forum 4Literacy and The Traveling Books Project promotes reading and fun learning. Working predominantly with children, this initiative aims to ensure that all children have a chance at being literate and are exposed to different cultures through the window of world-literature. By exchanging books from different countries, the vision ensures that books travel to various countries, therefore passing from one child’s hand to another. Activities such as reading workshops or mobile libraries will support the development of reading and writing skills of children and even reach out to those in remote areas. These actions are vital in inspiring children to thrive and to integrate literature to their everyday lives, as an empowerment tool.
