Kudsi ERGUNER

Kudsi Erguner, one of the world’s most outstanding players of ney, a Turkish reed flute, was appointed UNESCO Artist for Peace in July 2016, in light of his determined efforts to promote the universal values of music as an essential tool for dialogue among cultures and his contribution to the protection of cultural heritage.  Through his concerts across the world, his numerous participations to renowned international music festivals, as well as the formation of the Mevlana Institute he founded in 1970, he contributes to revive and promote classical ottoman and traditional music. 

In his capacity as a UNESCO Artist for Peace, he supports the preservation and promotion of intangible heritage, in the framework of the International Decade for the Rapprochement of Cultures (2013-2022).
