UNESCO at the 17th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII)

The UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is a high-level advisory body to the United Nations Economic and Social Council with the mandate to address indigenous issues, particularly in relation to economic and social development, culture, the environment, education, health and human rights.   
 
The annual sessions of the Permanent Forum provide UNESCO with an opportunity to engage with indigenous peoples in areas under its mandate. Below are some of the key UNESCO events at the UNPFII. A report is also submitted annually that presents key highlights of UNESCO's work with indigenous peoples in 2017.
