Call to present case studies to the global online workshop "Application of Indigenous knowledge in the prevention and management of environmental risks", sponsored by UNESCO and Fund for the Development of the Indigenous Peoples Of Latin America and Caribbean (FILAC).

Do you know indigenous communities that have used their own knowledge to identify the risk of a hurricane? Have you heard of local communities that through their knowledge have efficiently managed the risk of flooding? Do you know examples of indigenous or local communities that have had a significant experience of post-environmental disaster reconstruction based on their knowledge?
If you are interested in sharing the experience of your community in the workshop that FILAC and UNESCO organizing virtually, send a proposal for the presentation of a case study.
The workshop will be held virtually, on 23 September 2021. It will present selected experiences from various parts of the world that show the use of indigenous peoples' traditional knowledge in the face of environmental risks.
The objective of the workshop is to begin a learning dialogue for indigenous peoples from various regions to exchange their experiences and lessons learned in the context of extreme events, as well as to promote the participation of Indigenous Peoples in national management actions and plans to prevent and mitigate effects of environmental risks, increasing the recognition of the capacity of Indigenous Peoples in such events.
The event will be attended by members of Indigenous Peoples, state representatives, international organizations and agencies specialized in the field.
