UNESCO Headquarters powered by 100 % green electricity

16/02/2021

Since January 2021 UNESCO Headquarters facilities in Paris, France are running on 100% ‘green’ electricity, provided by the company Planète OUI.

The contractor was selected following an international market consultation and provides electricity exclusively from renewable sources such as hydroelectric dams, wind farms, solar energy or biomass located in France. Planète OUI holds the Positive Workplace CSR label and was ranked (shared) first in the Greenpeace "Truly Green" 2020 ranking.

The supply of 100% renewable electricity will enable UNESCO to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its facilities and serve UNESCO's overall ambition to improve its environmental performance.
