As part of its efforts to enhance cooperation in the cultural field, and encourage knowledge exchange between cultures, King Faisal Prize launched the ‘One Hundred and One Books’ project in cooperation with the Institut du Monde Arabe. The project aims to publish books introducing a number of Arabic and French scientists and scholars who have contributed to the communication between the two cultures. The initiative came as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of King Faisal Prize and its objectives to spread knowledge through communication with other cultures, and raise awareness about the Arabic culture. The books published under this project shed light on the contributions of French scholars in introducing Arabic culture in various parts of the world as well as the contributions of Arab scholars in introducing French culture in the Arab region. The ‘One Hundred and One Books’ project covers several French and Arab researchers and scientists, including 40 French and 60 Arab personalities, who have contributed to the development of civilizational dialogue and engagement between the countries on the two shores of the Mediterranean. -

Diaries in the Time of Pandemic 2020
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, in March 2020, the Archives of Latvian Folklore of the Institute of Literature, Folklore and Art (University of Latvia) and Punctum Magazine launched an initiative "Diaries in the Time of Pandemic 2020". The aim of the initiative is to identify and through diary entries document, how our society feels during the pandemic – in a situation where there is so much unknown and we are forced to isolate ourselves and spend more time in our homes than ever before. But above all, the project aims to create a sense of community, because although we are confined in our own four walls, we are all in this together. The initiative invites anyone to document their life during these uncertain times in Latvia and contribute to the collection "Diaries in the Time of Pandemic 2020". Diaries can be sent via email or tagged @autobiografijas.lv if posted on Facebook. All submitted diaries are published in the Digital Archives of Latvian Folklore. They can be submitted anonymously as well. The project is carried out in cooperation with Kroders.lv and UbiSunt. -

Support measures for literature and publishing
There has been an increased need for library services during the crisis period. Additional support of 300,000 euros has been allocated to libraries and Estonian Children's Literature Center in order to give libraries additional ability to buy more books and thus help publishers. For example through the Estonian Children's Literature Center, libraries who participate in the reading program "Reading Content”, are able to purchase additional books to be distributed through county libraries participating in the program (89 libraries at the moment). Additionally, the budget for the library loan compensation at the Author Compensation Fund (SA Autorihüvitusfond) will be increased by 100,000 euros. Estonia has also launched a pilot project for its own audio books in co-operation with the National Year of Digital Culture 2020 with a total budget of 50,000 euros. Within the supplementary budget, number of amendments have been made that help the sector - the reduction of VAT to 9% for e-books and e-publications, and additional funds for natural persons in creative sector.

Participative blog on everyday life
The participatory blog is an initiative of the Institute of Slovene Ethnography ZRC SAZU and the Slovene Ethnological Society. It is conceived as an open space for reflection and discussion on the (apparent) banalities of everyday life. It publishes stories, notes and photographs sent by people thinking about social changes inpired by pandemics and reflecting on how to survive quarantine, educate children, nurture partnerships, care for elderly relatives, work from home, plan outings, rationalize food, take care of health, maintain common sense, and plan for the future. With a relaxation of measures, it is transforming into a space that documents everyday life in a "new normality" and reflect on a changed way of life and new social issues.
