The virtual launch of the IBE-UNESCO’s support for curriculum process in the Gambia will take place on Tuesday 16 March 2021, from 12:30 to 13:30, Banjul Time.
The IBE has been supporting curriculum reform processes in The Gambia for many years. The Gambia was one of the first beneficiaries of the UNESCO Basic Education Program in Africa (BEAP) to which the IBE has provided technical support
since 2008. The current support, in response to an official request from the Permanent Secretary for Education, will focus on competency-based curriculum reform through several components:
- the revision of curriculum framework and syllabi;
- the development of other pedagogical materials;
- Capacity development of the curriculum staff and panelists.
The IBE will endeavor to accompany the reform process within the limits of available resources. Technical work with the country’s curriculum staff will be conducted through the coming months.
