The second phase of GEQAF has been successfully launched in Botswana on Monday, 14 September with over 30 participants comprising senior managers and technical officers of the Ministry of Education. The 5 day workshop was officially opened by the Permanent Secretary who thanked UNESCO-IBE for providing the necessary technical assistance to support the efforts of the ministry to reform the education sector in Botswana. He stated that quality of education remains a serious challenge in Botswana and considered the GEQAF Phase II to have therefore been launched at an opportune period when the ministry is striving to improve quality and relevance of the education system in line with the recently launched Education and Training Sector Strategic Plan/ETSSP (2015-2020).

The IBE is represented by Ms. Leah Sikoyo and Mr. Joshua Muskin who will work with the technical teams of the ministry to develop the priority interventions within the ETSSP aimed at improving the quality and development responsive education and lifelong learning in Botswana.
