Cubically Imagined Exhibition at UNESCO HQ

In the framework of the celebration of the 2021 International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development, UNESCO in close partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea is organizing an immersive virtual reality (VR) exhibition at the Maison de l’UNESCO from 6 to 16 July 2021.

 

The exhibition will feature content exclusively created for the occasion, including a VR art film reinterpreting Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite (Best Picture Oscar 2020) as well as a VR film concert of BTS’s MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E (Featuring the songs Dope and DNA) to connect with a broader audience on the global stage for the advocacy of UNESCO’s initiatives on the protection and the promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions.

 

Other content will include:

  • Projection mapping by the company d’strict titled Beach, Wave, Flower presenting new forms of the natural environment in an immersive experience.
  • Projection mapping by the National Museum of Korea traveling two centuries back in time to showcase a royal procession of the Joseon period (1392-1897).
  • Projection mapping by Yiyun Kang titled Beyond the Scene inspired by BTS' major choreography and interviews with their fans around the world.
  • Interactive Media Art by Tacit Group using a combination of sound and music with Hangul as the subject.
  • Short film titled Brave New World produced by Vive Studio, one of Korea’s leading studios specialized in Virtual Production, Digital Immersive Experiences, and Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI).
