German launch of Global Report “Re|Shaping Cultural Policies” in Berlin

The German language edition of the UNESCO 2018 Global Report, Re|Shaping Cultural Policies summary will be launched at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin, Germany, on February 9th, 2018 from 10:30 to 13:00.

The Report assesses the impact of the most recent policies and measures taken around the world to implement the UNESCO 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. Specifically, it tracks progress on the following four main goals related to the Convention: supporting sustainable systems of governance for culture; achieving a balanced flow of cultural goods and services and increasing the mobility of artists and cultural professionals; integrating culture in sustainable development frameworks; promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms. The Report puts forward a set of policy recommendations and produces new evidence to inform cultural policy making and advance creativity for development.

The event is organized by the German National Commission to UNESCO in cooperation with the Deutscher Kulturrat, the Kulturpolitische Gesellschaft and the Barenboim-Said Academy.

This public conference will be opened to representatives of cultural and public institutions, embassies, civil society as well as the German press. It will include remarks by Christoph Wulf, Vice President of the German National Commission to UNESCO, and Michael Naumann, Rector of the Barenboim-Said Akademie, followed by a keynote presentation by Danielle Cliche, Chief of the Section for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and Secretary of the 2005 Convention.

The translation of the Executive Summary was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the four German-speaking National Commissions from Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria.

The Global Report was published with the financial support of the Swedish Government, within the framework of the project “Enhancing fundamental freedoms through the promotion of the diversity of cultural expressions”.
