World Orchestra for Peace receives BraVo Award «Orchestra of the Year 2020/21»

09/07/2021

For the third time since their creation in 2017, the BraVo International Professional Music Awards took place on the stage of the historic Bolshoi Theatre, Moscow. The Awards  recognize outstanding contributions to the musical arts, both pop and classical - and to performing arts venues and supporters of arts education globally.

On April 2nd, 2021, The World Orchestra for Peace was announced as “Orchestra of the Year”.  The Award was received by Charles Kaye, its Director and Co-Founder.

Mr. Kaye dedicated this award to the memory of Sir Georg and Lady Solti with whom he founded the orchestra. He thanked Maestro Valery Gergiev, into whose hands he entrusted it after Solti’s passing and described him as one of the greatest conductors of his generation and, like Solti, a committed believer in peace and the power of music and musicians to be ambassadors for peace.

In thanking the 650 players from 125 orchestras in 70 countries who have given their services for more than 30 concerts over the past 25 years, he said :

They are the living realization of Solti’s vision and they share and keep alive my own personal commitment and dedication to using music and the arts to make the world a better and more peaceful place for our children and generations to come.

Charles Kaye, Director and Co-Founder of the World Orchestra for Peace, UNESCO Artist for Peace

The World Orchestra for Peace was designated UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2010, in recognition of its outstanding dedication to promoting, through music, cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and a culture of peace.

Notably the Orchestra gave critically acclaimed performances at the 2018 BBC Proms in the Royal Albert Hall, London and the Carmen Würth Forum Künzelsau, Germany to mark the exact centenary of the WW1 Armistice. Both events were designated UNESCO Concerts for Peace.
