Fight Famine

Starting this week, WFP is working to call attention to the importance of preventing famine before it starts for the 34 million vulnerable people around the world. To do this, WFP is circulating two different asks for your consideration to share with your GWAs and other advocates you work with: 1) #InvisibleMeal challenge on TikTok (supported by TikTok), and 2) an Instagram Takeover by a family in the field.

Details of both are provided  below and attached supporting documents. For any further information, you can contact Jessica Andrews at jessica.andrews@wfp.org

#InvisibleMeal Challenge on TikTok

TikTok will feature the #InvisibleMeal challenge on the “Discover” page in 13 markets around the world from 24 -31 May, and has agreed to pin / feature any content we flag to them (so if your GWAs participate, please let us know!). As you’ll see in the attached deck, we’re asking GWAs to make an “invisible meal” ok tiktok to highlight millions of people suffering from hunger. (The deck includes a sample video, just click on it while connected to the internet!)

Instagram post takeover (#FightFamine)

This activity aims to provide a voice and platform to those most impacted by hunger - by letting them 'take over' a post on the GWA’s Instagram feed. GWAs can pick from a selection of 7 stories from either South Sudan, Nigeria, Yemen or the Democratic Republic of Congo, each highlighting a personal story about what it means to struggle with hunger and how our support can help make a difference (see all stories here; each column represents one Instagram carousel). On the Trello board, you can find a series of images for a carousel and a written narration for the takeover. There’s a second short deck explaining the idea and how it would appear on Instagram.
