The Federal Government provides EUR25 million (USD30 million) for film and TV productions that have been discontinued due to Covid-19. Film producers can receive a non-repayable grant of up to 75% of the default costs. The maximum funding amount for a single project is EUR2.5 million (USD3 million). If the funded project is a series or serial production the maximum sum of EUR2.5 million (USD3 million) applies to a single episode or sequence.

The comeback grant will enable independent film production companies to continue shooting cinema and TV productions that have been interrupted or postponed due to COVID-19. On the one hand, this is intended to enable productions that have already begun filming and are suffering restrictions due to COVID-19-related measures to nevertheless complete the production. On the other hand, productions should be able to start shooting despite possible new restrictions in connection with COVID-19. The support program improves the economic framework conditions of the film industry and maintains and promotes the international competitiveness of film industry companies and guides them safely through the crisis.
