Study on the state of TVET digitalization in Africa

On March 9, 2021, the Pan-African Initiative for Digital Transformation of TVET and Skills Development Systems in Africa was officially launched. This initiative aims to ensure the digital transformation of TVET and skills development systems, so that empowered to adapt to this new reality.

As part of this continental initiative, one of the objectives is to set up "a regular and sustainable mechanism for the evaluation, monitoring and discussion on progress in the digital transformation of TVET and skills development systems in African countries". It is in this perspective that IIEP-UNESCO Dakar joined the Initiative to coordinate the production of a report on the state of play and the prospects for the digital transformation of TVET and skills development systems in Africa.

The report took the form of a study, which started in the second quarter of 2021 and whose aim is to highlight a number of recommendations and actions whose implementation by stakeholders will accelerate digital transformation. TVET in Africa. This study should indeed serve as a reference on the situation of TVET systems in Africa at the launch of the Initiative, in order to lay the foundations for the support of technical and financial partners in this area. The study will also serve to shed light on future prospects for a better implementation of digital technology in TVET and skills development systems.

The study will be released in 2022 and will be shared and presented to the Initiative's partners in the first half of 2022.
