UNESCO supports the promotion of quality of education in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK, February 2, 2022 – Webinar on issues around quality of education for the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and its affiliated institutions was held.

The event was organized upon request and in close coordination with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic to learn about Estonian experience with promoting quality of education so as to achieve good learning outcomes. In particular, issues of teacher pre-service and in-service training, methodological support in the learning process, school assessments, both internal and external, policies or programs to support academically underachieving students in schools, preparation for international assessment programs such as PISA, TALIS, and much more were discussed.

Based on the presentation by Ms Gunda Tire, head of the international assessment of Education and Youth Board of Estonia, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic identified the areas of development that are most relevant and interesting to learn about further and expressed their desire to continue such exchanges. Some of the areas of interest concern teacher training, teacher motivation system, support to academically underachieving students, programs organized with universities to enable better teaching facilities for sciences.

The webinar was supported by the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Estonia in Nur-Sultan and H.E. Mr. Toomas Tirs, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Turkmenistan, participated in the meeting.
