The WHO Academy has launched its first product, a mobile learning app specifically to support health workers as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic in their communities. The app, which can be found in the Apple and Google Play stores by searching "WHO Academy", provides health workers with convenient access to a wealth of COVID-19 knowledge resources developed by WHO, including up-to-the-minute guidance, tools, training, and virtual workshops. Leading up to and beyond the May 2021 launch of our the first 10 courses on its advanced learning experience platform, the WHO Academy hopes that its participation in the Global Education Coalition will enhance course development along the principles and action areas it has outlined, and that our experience in developing this programme will enable us to contribute to the coalition's success in achieving its goals.

The World Health Organization supports the coalition through its WHO Academy, the organization's state-of-the-art training centre that will bring the very latest lifelong learning innovations to the global health sector. Now under development with the support of France, the Academy will scale up learning for impact through online and classroom-based courses, reaching millions of health workers and others around the world. Using the latest technologies, the Academy will enable learners to tailor their training experience to meet their needs and award them digital credentials they can use to verify their competencies and advance their careers.
The WHO Academy will leverage new methods and technologies in adult learning that are vastly improving the speed, efficiency and scale with which critical knowledge is conveyed to people around the world. These will include digital innovations such as artificial intelligence, extended reality, gamification and blockchain, all of which are enabling training to become more immersive, engaging and effective. As the world’s largest and most innovative lifelong learning platform in global health, the Academy will accelerate the implementation of the latest norms, standards and evidence and thereby equip health workers and others to save lives and make their societies healthier.
