Close digital divides and enhance connectivity for education

Spacecom is honored to join the UNESCO COVID-19 Education Coalition, and provide with its partners free satellite capacity over Sub-Sahara Africa using the AMOS-17 satellite, and satellite based services to enable immediate access to distant learning to all the population, even the most remote, during this crisis, and at reduced cost after the crisis.
The satellite wide reach and almost immediate deployment time allows for continuous support and equality in educational services, even for un-connected locations.
The advantages of satellite-based solutions for education:
• Wide reach – the satellite enables connectivity anywhere, including most remote rural areas .
• Equality – bridging the Digital Divide as students who live in rural and remote locations can get the same level of education as students in urban areas.
• Quick deployment – satellite services can be deployed almost immediately.
• Cost efficiency – satellite is the most suitable means for addressing very large audiences, regardless of the number of receivers.

Commitment

Quality Education is a key UN-SDG goal for 2030, aiming to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Even before COVID-19, Africa’s smaller communities were behind. Digital learning offers many benefits, but few mass implementations in Sub-Sahara due to scarce communication infrastructure.
Combining satellite communications and digital learning, governments can efficiently and cost-effectively deploy nationwide e-educational programs, with unique advantages:
• Wide reach – enable connectivity anywhere, including most remote rural areas.
• Equality – providing the same level of education to all students, no matter where they live or socio-economic status.
• Extension – the best teachers and moderators train new teachers.
• Quick deployment – satellite services can be deployed immediately for instant, widespread use of updated educational materials.
• Independency – satellites do not depend on other communication infrastructures.
• Efficiency – satellite is most suitable for addressing very large audiences.
Spacecom provide end-to-end educational projects that require one-way and broadband connectivity in remote and unconnected communities, and broadcasting of educational TV channels to large populations.
Spacecom provides free and lower-cost satellite capacity over Sub-Sahara during the crisis, and satellite-based services to enable immediate access to distant learning to all the population during and after this crisis.
