Teacher Education Experts from Finland Visited IICBA

Dr. Raija Pirttimaa and Mrs. Hannele Torvinen from Finland visited UNESCO IICBA and Liaison Office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 30 October at UNECA. The two scholars had a meeting with IICBA director Dr. Yumiko Yokozeki and the programme staff to discuss about collaboration possibilities in the field of teacher education.

Dr. Raija Pirttimaa, associate professor at University of Jyväskylä, is an expert in Special Education whose research focuses on educating the disabled. She is teaching a number of African students from Ethiopia, Ghana, and Tanzania in their Ph.D. studies, while tutoring students from other African countries during their visit to JyU. Mrs. Hannele Torvinen is a senior lecturer at the Teacher Education College, JAMK University. She is an expert in Vocational Teacher Education, in charge of TVET education. IICBA, with its expertise in teacher education policy and training, is actively seeking opportunities of collaboration with the scholars as well as their universities in terms of research and training projects.
