IICBA at the 8th International Conference of Young Scientists of the Global Young Academy

Dr. Binyam Sisay, who is a member of the Global Young Academy (GYA) and currently working as a program officer at UNESCO IICBA, participated in the 8th International Conference of Young Scientists of the Global Young Academy held from 7-11 May 2018 in Pattaya, Thailand under the theme “Forever Young? Sustainable and Healthy Longevity through Science and Technology”. This year’s conference theme ties in closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Flavia Schlegel, the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences of UNESCO was one of the high-level speakers at the plenary of the conference opening ceremony and later in the evening she opened the Gala dinner with remarks about youth and longevity. 

The Global Young Academy is a network of 200 members and 134 alumni from 70 countries, committed to be the voice of young scientists from around the world. It is a member-led organization and its members are selected based on academic excellence and a commitment to service to society.
