Violence prevention in educational institutions. A guide for teachers

The guide for teachers “Violence prevention in educational institutions” was developed for managers, teachers, psychologists, social educators of general education institutions (schools) and trainee teachers.

The manual presents internationally recognized approaches to the prevention of violence and bullying in educational institutions, recommendations for the development and implementation of school policies and practices that would ensure a safe and violence-free learning environment. A separate section is devoted to measures to prevent discrimination against learners and educators living with HIV.

Using this guide, educational institutions will be able to design their own strategies for preventing and countering violence and discrimination, respond to incidents of violence and provide assistance to those who have experienced, committed or witnessed violence.

The guide has been developed by the Women’s Health and Family Planning Charitable Foundation with the support of the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (UNESCO IITE).

Currently, the guide is widely used to train educators at the regional institutes of postgraduate pedagogical education throughout Ukraine.

The guide is available in Ukraine.
