OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST

Under the overall supervision of the Director, and the direct supervision of the Social and Human Sciences (SHS) Programme Specialist (PS), the Associate Project Officer shall provide support technical and coordination of project implementation activities for SHS portfolio.  The incumbent shall work closely with other team members to bring high level expertise to projects undertaken by SHS whilst seeking synergies across activities and new opportunities for collaboration.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the design, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of project activities in the area of bioethics, human rights, and disability inclusion. 
  • Assist in preparation of project work plans, budgets, and output indicators.   
  • Liaise with national stakeholders to facilitate effective delivery of project activities to ensure achievement of projected outputs. 
  • Provide inputs for preparation of  periodic reports as required.
  • Monitor project progress/final reports against predefined outputs and financial disbursements to ensure they conform to approved workplans and are in line with UNESCO’s rules and regulations.
  • Conduct situational research and analysis; analyze/compile data for potential partnership opportunities. 
  • Develop concept notes/proposals to support resource mobilization; and/or preparaton of publications, briefings, and other related. documents.
  • Assist in organization and delivery of capacity building activities to enhance capabilities of stakeholders, researchers, network members, and colleagues.
  • Prepare public information document e.g., news items, infographics, audiovisual materials, etc.,  for UNESCO website and social media channels in coordination with public information unit,
  • Disseminate information on SHS initiatives to ensure project visibility; extend, engage and reinforce networks, engage new and diverse stakeholders, and foster partnerships.
  • Support unit in mainstreaming gender equality effectively throughout the project activities, reports, research, and analysis. 
  • Support unit in arranging meetings/project events, minutes of meetings, monitors follow-up actions, etc.  
  • Draft memos, reports, and other project related correspondence.
  • Provide substantive logistical and administrative support to project procurement, consultations, technical groups/think tanks, meetings, Networks and Partnership initiatives, events, and missions.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary by immediate supervisor or the Director of UNESCO Jakarta Office

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Humanities, Development, Human Rights, or related field;

 

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years required with Master’s Degree or 5 years work experience with Bachelor’s Degree in fields indicated above. 
  • Proven experience in designing, development, project planning, budget formulation/development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects. 
  • Ability to conduct research/analysis, draft and develop project proposals, develop monitoring/evaluation reports, and other related materials.
  • Experience working in multicultural environments and Knowledge of UNESCO’s work mandate is an added advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong research and analytical skills.  Ability to analyze complex issues and convey concise & clear accounts on project information. 
  • Ability to draft documents in a clear and concise manner and manage sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to prioritize and co-ordinate complex activities/assignments whilst making necessary adjustments as required;
  • High-level commitment and responsibility towards completing assignments efficiently, accurately, and promptly.   Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy of deliverables.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve organizational goals and ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Ability to work independently seeking guidance in exceptional circumstances only.
  • Good negotiation & coordination skills.  

 

Languages:

Fluency in written and spoken English;

 

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Languages:

  • Knowledge of French and/or Bahasa is an added advantage.

BENEFITS AND ENTITLEMENTS

Monthly Salary: IDR 38.525.946 p.a. (Inclusive of Medical Insurance & Pension benefits)

Other benefits include 30 days’ annual leave.
