National Digital Platforms

The following educational platforms for distant learning can help learners, parents, teachers, and schools in Eastern Europe and Central Asia facilitate learning and interaction during periods of school closure. The list is not exhaustive and these resources do not carry UNESCO’s endorsement, however many of them have wide reach and user-base.

  • AZERBAIJAN

    • Lesson time – a TV programme, which is broadcast 5 days a week at Mədəniyyət и ARB Günəş channels. TV lessons span across all grades and subjects. They are available also the Youtube channel of the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan and its official account in Facebook.
    • edu.az – the portal hosts over 1650 video lessons. There are also videos with 3D animation, lessons developed by Khan Academy and video lessons for students’ assessment.  The lessons are developed in line with the national curriculum.
    • E-derslik.edu.az – the portal provides access to 256 electronic resources and 28 educational materials.
    • Ilkaddimlar – Provides access to educational resources including e-textbooks.
    • Testbook  – A platform with free access to tests for school and university students.
    • E-resurs  – Free access to e-textbooks, e-tests, video lessons, and e-learning.
    • Video.edu.az – A collection of video lessons on all school subjects and grades. The video lessons are prepared in accordance with the general education curriculum and are recommended by the Ministry of Education to be used by learners during temporal school closure.

  • ARMENIA

    • Armenian educational environment – Provides free access to multiple educational resources including lesson plans, courses, e-books and other.
    • Bats das – YouTube channel of the Armenian Public TV with access to TV lessons.
    • Esource – Provides access to video lessons on physics, geometry, chemistry and biology.
    • Dasaran – Provides free access to online encyclopedia on school subjects, e-books, contests and games to primary and secondary school students.
    • Bonus – An interactive online educational platform with free access to online video lessons, readers, for secondary school students.
    • Khan Academy – Nonprofit organization that offers free online courses, lessons and practice for learners, teachers and parents in 40 languages, including Armenian.
    • Collection of school e-textbooks.

  • BELARUS

    • National Education Portal – Free access to educational resources to learners, teachers and parents.
    • Adukar – Educational portal for teachers, learners and parents. Offers free video lessons, online self-training for school exit examination in 9 subjects in Belarussian and Russian.
    • MovaNanova – First online course of Belarussian language. Offers 235 free lessons.

  • GEORGIA

    • Elibrary – e-library with textbooks of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia.
    • BTU – Business and Technology University offers free access to remote session on innovation, technology and entrepreneurship which combine video blogs, lectures, e-readers and podcasts.
    • Feedc – new Georgian communication platform for distant learning, recommended by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia. Allows teachers to conduct lessons with their students in real time.
    • Distanceleaning – portal of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia for distant learning of the Georgian language.
    • Silkschool – offers open and free video lessons on various subjects of the school curriculum.
    • Khan Academy – free online courses, lessons and practice for learners, teachers and parents in 40 languages, including Georgian.

  • KAZAKHSTAN

    • Bilimland – An open platform with free access to interactive lessons on different subjects developed in line with primary and secondary school curriculum, courses for university students and multiple resources for teachers: lesson plans, guides, forum to share experience, video lessons and webinars in Kazakh and Russian.
    • online – An educational portal with access to video lessons.
    • Kazakhstan Open University – An educational platform with free access to online courses from Kazakh leading universities and instructors in Kazakh and Russian.
    • Kazakhstan national open education platform established by leading universities of Kazakhstan. Offers online courses in the basic undergraduate disciplines studied in Kazakh and Russian.
    • Uztaz – A portal for educators, provides access to free lesson plans and online courses. Requires registration.
    • Soyle – Online courses to learn Kazakh language for children and adults.
    • Opiq – open collection of e-textbooks.

  • KYRGYZSTAN

    • Educational resources of Kyrgyzstan – an open portal endorsed by the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan with free access to online video lessons on school subjects for students from grades 1 to 11. Lessons are available in Kyrgyz, Russian and Uzbek languages. The portal also hosts recommendations, tests, and subject standards for teachers.
    • Ibilim – An open educational portal endorsed by the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan with free access to online video and audio lessons for primary school students on mathematics, Kyrgyz, Russian and English languages, music, arts, country study in Kyrgyz and Russian.
    • Bilim Bulagy – An open educational portal endorsed by the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan with free access to online lessons with videos for secondary school students (grades 5-9) on mathematics, biology, history, physics, chemistry, geography,  English language, Kyrgyz and world literature in Kyrgyz and Russian.
    • Lib – open library of materials (including textbooks and guides for teachers) distributed under open license.
    • Kitep – open e-library of the Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan.

  • RUSSIA

    • Online.hse.ru — is a developing educational platform for programmes aimed at professional re-training, continuing professional development and obtaining an MBA. It is one of a number of projects under the supervision of HSE’s eLearning Office (elearning.hse.ru/en), an expert centre, which develops and provides support to all HSE University  projects in the field of online education.
    • Russian e-school – An open educational platform supported by the Ministry of Education of Russia which brings together teachers, learners and parents together and provides free access to high-quality interactive lessons, practice and tests on all subjects from grade 1 to 11, lesson plans, tasks to assess learners and other resources. The resource is design to ensure quality education to all.
    • ru – A collection of video lessons on school core subjects in Russian; some lessons are free, others are for fee. InternetUrok’ open YouTube channel offers free access to 4500 video lessons for learners and their parents.
    • ru – An interactive online platform which offers over 30,000 tasks on core subjects developed in edutainment format. Can be used by teachers for training the whole class or individually by parents for each student. In both cases, the system offers individualized learning. Requires registration.
    • Deti I Nauka – An open educational resource on science (biology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, other) for primary and secondary school. Offers lessons, facilitated by leading teachers with videos, tasks and reader.
    • GetAClass – An open and free educational resource on physics and mathematics with tasks, readers, educational videos, interactive simulators which students and teachers can use for regular classes and also for preparation for exit examinations. Teachers can track students’ achievements.
    • InfoUrok – An open educational portal which provides access to video lectures, lesson plans and tests for teachers and over 3,000 video lessons for students.
    • Znanija – A community of high and middle-school students and experts from around the world (35+ countries) that share knowledge and solve problems. Has over 50+ million answered questions related to mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology, languages, literature, other subjects.
    • Kid-mama – Provides free access to online games, interactive tasks, lessons, reading materials, handouts for pre-schoolers, primary and lower secondary school students.
    • Znayka – Provides free access to 1300 video lessons on 22 subjects created by experienced teachers for learners from grade 1 to 11. Lessons are based on state school curriculum.
    • YaKlass – Digital platforms that provides students with free access to 1500 educational videos and numerous tasks for self-testing. If student fails, the platform explains how to solve the task and offers another one. Teachers can trace students’ achievements. Parents can also practice to better support their children in learning.
    • Nauchpok – A YouTube channel with 2.12 million subscribers (207 million views) which offers edutainment videos on a wide range of topics some of which were created in collaboration with UNESCO IITE.
    • Universarium – An open e-learning system of online courses and lectures from Russian universities.
    • PushkinOnline – The portal combines an online course of Russian as a foreign language, an online school for teachers of Russian as a foreign language, open online courses for those studying Russian as a foreign language and an integrated social network to enable communication between interested parties.
    • Lectorium – An open platform for MOOCs and archive of video lectures.
    • Open Education – Russian national open education platform of online courses on core disciplines studied in the Russian universities.
    • Khan Academy – Nonprofit organization that offers free online courses, lessons and practice for learners, teachers and parents in 40 languages, including.
    • Resources recommended by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation for schoolchildren, for supplementary education and leisure, for teachers and college students.
    • Methodological recommendations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation for providing distant learning.
    • Online marathon of the open broadcasts “Home hour” of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation is held at its community on social media VK (Vkontakte) to support parents, schoolchildren and students who stay at home in order to protect their health in the current epidemiological situation.

  • UKRAINE

    • EdEra – Massive open online courses on a variety of topics for students and teachers. The platform provides free access to interactive learning materials and free educational videos at its YouTube channel with over 55,000 subscribers and 16+ million views.
    • ZNO-online – A portal for preparation for external independent assessment tests for school graduates created the leading Ukrainian educational online resource ua.
    • Rozvitok ditini – A educational portal that provides free access to workbooks and hands-on task generator that allows teachers and parents to create customized tasks for an individual learners or the whole class.
    • Miyklas – An online platform for teachers, learners and their parents which offers ready-made tasks for self-training in the main school subjects. It acts as a virtual tutor by explaining steps in task solving.
    • ua – An open educational resource which promotes interactive learning by offering over 8,000 online tasks, tests and educational games for core subjects. All resources fully comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine and international standards of Common Core.
    • Prometheus – Claims to be the first and largest free education project for anyone and everyone in Ukraine; makes the best courses available from leading teachers, universities and organizations worldwide.
    • Naurok – An educational portal which provides learners with free access to interactive tasks for learning (individually and in a group with teacher’s guidance) and self-testing on over 30 subjects and themes. Has a collection of educational videos.
    • Autta – Preventive education portal for health educators which provides access to over 3,000 guides, lesson plans, educational videos and other learning and teaching materials as well as online courses.
    • Khan Academy – Nonprofit organization that offers free online courses, lessons and practice for learners, teachers and parents in 40 languages, including Ukrainian.

  • UZBEKISTAN

    • uz – The official portal of the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan which provides free access to teachers and learners to electronic textbooks, video lessons, tests, virtual laboratories, audio lessons, educational games, lesson plans, exit examination tests and other teaching and learning materials for all grades of primary and secondary school in Uzbek and Russian.
    • uz – Mobile applications for online learning in Uzbek and Russian languages.
    • uz – A repository of electronic and audio books.
    • uz – “Our online school” portal provides access to electronic books, video lessons, video courses on all subjects of the school curriculum.
    • uzedu.uz – Provides access to online courses.
    • Ziyonet – Provides access to online courses, audio- and e-books, educational games and other resources for teachers, learners and parents in Uzbek and Russian.
    • Test-Uz – An aggregator which provides free access to online video lessons, tests, e-books, guides for schools, colleges and universities. Russian.
    • Idum – A portal for teachers and learners with tests, lesson plans, video lessons, audio lessons, presentations, games and mobile applications.
    • Khan Academy – Nonprofit organization that offers free online courses, lessons and practice for learners, teachers and parents in 40 languages, including Uzbek.
    • Uzedu – the official portal of the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan which provides resources for learning: table of video lessons, streaming on television, recommendations for parents, learners and teachers, video lessons, links to various educational resources. Corresponding information is posted on the Ministry’s Facebook page and on its Telegram channel T.me/uzedu. Video lessons are available on the Telegram channel of the Ministry Uzeduonlinemaktab.
    • Kitob.uz provides access to e-books and audiobooks.
