Video Campaign to Cope with COVID-19 in Bangladesh: #BeCreative to Promote Art

23/04/2020
03 - Good Health & Well Being

Like everywhere in the world, Bangladesh is part of the COVID-19 crisis. The UNESCO Dhaka Office is fully aware of the need to activate all our potential including culture and art during this situation.

We believe that culture and art are important tools to cope with this unprecedented situation. Artists and cultural professionals, in particular, can play an important role and contribute during this crisis period, as they are among the most vibrant, engaged, and outspoken members of society.

Within this context, the digital campaign #BeCreative was launched for artists and cultural professionals on the website and Facebook Page of the UNESCO Dhaka Office. Videos posted under the #BeCreative campaign allow the public to access art and artists and engage themselves creatively while staying at home.

Shared videos display and share tips and practical hands-on demonstrations of simple and basic art and creative works by artists and cultural professionals. Videos inspire and invite viewers to take them up, imitate them, and ‘be creative’ while being at home during this critical time.

Following the great success of the first phase of the #BeCreative campaign, the UNESCO Dhaka Office has launched the second phase of the campaign. In the second phase, the public has been invited to share their own videos in which they share tips and practical hands-on demonstrations of simple creative works and performances in a moderated public Facebook group BeCreativeByUNESCO. UNESCO has selected and re-posted the best and most relevant videos on the Official Facebook page of the UNESCO Dhaka Office as well as on the official UNESCO Dhaka Office website.
