Join the UNESCO Arab Regional Consultation for the revision of the UNESCO 1974 Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, co-operation and peace!

The ‘1974 Recommendation concerning education for international understanding, co-operation and peace and education relating to human rights and fundamental freedoms’ is a landmark legal instrument that formulates principles and norms for the international regulation of education in support of the advancement of justice, freedom, human rights and peace. It promotes the role of education in eradicating conditions that threaten human survival and well-being.

In 2022, UNESCO started its revision process. The current Recommendation was adopted nearly 50 years ago. Our generation is facing new threats and challenges that can be addressed through education. This is why it is now time to revise it to take into account shifts in the global and educational landscape.

Be part of the process: transform education, for an education that transforms lives!

UNESCO will organise an open Regional Consultation for the Arab Region on 22 March 2022.

Education experts, students, teachers, and all those working in the field of education in the Arab region are invited to participate in an online conversation aimed to:

· Highlight the threats and challenges specific to the Arab region;

· Propose ways to enhance education’s contribution to addressing these challenges…

…in view of supporting the revision of the 1974 Recommendation.
