Extrabudgetary Projects on Freedom of Expression in Indonesia

Indonesia

Voluntary contributions have strengthened UNESCO’s work in freedom of expression in Indonesia.

The primary objective of the European Union’s development policy is the eradication of poverty in the context of sustainable development. EU partnerships and dialogue with developing countries promote respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms, peace, democracy, good governance, and gender equality, the rule of law, solidarity and justice.

UNESCO is leading innovative projects around the world thanks to voluntary contributions it has received from donors in support of freedom of expression.

The overall objective of this UNESCO project is to strengthen the resilience of societies to potentially harmful content spread online, in particular hate speech inciting violence while protecting freedom of expression and enhancing the promotion of peace through digital technologies, notably social media.
