Extrabudgetary Projects on Freedom of Expression in Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone

Voluntary contributions have strengthened UNESCO’s work in freedom of expression in Sierra Leone.

Danida is the term used for Denmark’s development cooperation, which is an area of activity under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark. Denmark’s development policy aims to combat poverty through promotion of human rights and economic growth.

UNESCO is leading innovative projects around the world thanks to voluntary contributions it has received from donors in support of freedom of expression.

With support from Danida, UNESCO has supported Mano River Union countries in West Africa in strengthening press freedom with a focus on supporting enabling media legislation, developing capacities of media institutions, and promoting gender sensitivity and gender mainstreaming in the media.
