Sound Design Symposium coming next week in Hamamatsu

Sound Design Symposium coming next week in Hamamatsu

When:
Mon, 12/12/2016 to Fri, 12/16/2016

From 12 to 16 December, Hamamatsu will be hosting the 2016 edition of the Sound Design Symposium. This event falls under Hamamatsu’s membership to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of Music. Ever since, Hamamatsu works toward shaping a city where musical culture thrives, through initiatives that include bringing together instrument manufacturers, holding international musical events, and supporting citizens’ musical endeavors, while promoting exchange and collaboration with other Creative Cities both in Japan and around the world.

In the framework of the symposium, a series of panel discussions will explore the world trends in sound design. The program includes:

  • “World Trends in Sound Design”, a keynote speech by Neville Brody, a Graphic Designer opening a new door to Sound Design at the Royal College of Art in London;
  • “Becoming A Sound Design City: A Future Vision of Sound and People in Resonance”, a discussion on how to consider the new relationships between people and sound, designed through projects such as the Creative City of Hannover’s “Ear and Listen” a multi-region initiative that associates government, industries, academia and citizens.
  • “Proposal for Hamamatsu, Sound Design City”, a dialogue between internationally renowned creators and local engineers and designers on how to explore the creativity of sound and to harness Hamamatsu’s possibilities as a UNESCO Creative City of Music and a Sound Design City.
