‘Intangible Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development’ Virtual Expo of the Participants’ Project Ideas from the 2021 Online International Workshop

‘Intangible Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development’ Virtual Expo of the Participants’ Project Ideas from the 2021 Online International Workshop

UNESCO’s 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) is one of the key instruments for facilitating global heritage practice today. In the spirit of the 2003 Convention, the International Workshop on ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development’ addressed the need for awareness raising and capacity building among emerging researchers and practitioners.

Organized jointly by International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region (ICHCAP), UNESCO Bangkok and Ahmedabad University, the intensive two-week course addressed the 2003 Convention from the perspective of its relation to other conventions, heritage-sensitive sustainable development, gender, community-driven documentation, business development, urban-rural sustainability, education and the effect of crises with focus on the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the learnings of this workshop, the participants submitted project proposals as a part of their final assignment. Join us for the virtual expo of these project ideas created by young professionals across the Asia-Pacific region towards safeguarding an element from their ICH.
