UNESCO is launching a call for UNESCO designated sites including Biosphere Reserves, UNESCO Global Geoparks and World Heritage sites, as well as elements of the Intangible Cultural Heritage to benefit from the capacity building support of the UNESCO Earth Network.

Earlier this month, a call for volunteer experts including young people was launched.

The programme aims at matching volunteer experts with sites in need, supported through a Multi-Partner Trust Fund.

The main objectives of the programme are centered on:

  • support to capacity for ecosystem management, restoration and resilience in UNESCO-designated sites (or sites in the process of being designated), through training and exchange of experiences and good practices;
  • mitigation and adaptation of ecosystems to the effects of climate change;
  • support to youth and local communities for transformative change in values and practices.

The call is open to all UNESCO designated sites (or sites in the process of being designated) or elements of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The sites and elements can express their interest to join the programme by filling the online form
