Biosphere reserves in Asia and the Pacific

There are 168 biosphere reserves in 40 countries in Asia and the Pacific.

The Asia and the Pacific region counts four regional networks:

  • The East Asian Biosphere Reserve Network (EABRN) launched in 1994,
  • The Pacific Man and the Biosphere Network (PacMAB) created in 2006,
  • The South and Central Asia MAB Network (SACAM) created in 2002, and
  • The Southeast Asian Biosphere Reserve Network (SeaBRnet) created in 1998.
