UNESCO in Guatemala

In 1950, UNESCO's actions in the country began with the creation of the Guatemalan Cooperation Commission with UNESCO. In these six decades, Guatemala and the Organization have worked together for a development based on the promotion of education, the promotion of a culture of peace, support for youth and the recognition and protection of cultural heritage.

UNESCO's National Office in Guatemala was officially opened in late 1996.
