Education
The mission of the UNESCO Education Sector is to assume international leadership in the creation of learning societies that provide educational opportunities to the entire population. In this sense, the Education Sector of the UNESCO Lima Office seeks to be a national reference in the generation of educational policies.
Culture
Peru is a country with immense cultural diversity and extraordinary material and intangible heritage. UNESCO accompanies the Peruvian State in strengthening strategies for the protection, promotion and social assessment of cultural expressions, as well as material and intangible heritage, contributing in this way to the full exercise of cultural rights, in this respect, dialogue and intercultural coexistence and the recognition of culture as an axis of inclusive social development.
Communication and Information
UNESCO's mandate is to promote the free flow of ideas through word, image and the dissemination of knowledge. This mandate is associated with the creation of inclusive, pluralistic, equitable, open and participatory knowledge societies. Freedom of expression and the promotion of communication and information capacities are essential for universal access to knowledge and the strengthening of peace.
Natural Sciences
UNESCO seeks to strengthen Peru's science, technology and innovation systems and policies and to promote international scientific cooperation in the country. The global network of associated research centers and the international programs that UNESCO implements contribute to strengthening local capacities and provide technical assistance for sustainable development.
