>> Platform Responding to COVID-19: Education in Latin America and the Caribbean

This first webinar offers a space to present and discuss the main challenges of the educational response aimed at displaced children and youth, as well as to exchange successful experiences in this field. The online event is aimed at professionals from the Ministries of Education working in the educational response, actors in the humavnitarian sector and education in general.

The closure of educational institutions as a measure to stop the rapid spread of COVID-19 has impacted all educational systems in the region and has led to the emergence of multiple educational responses by governments. These initiatives seek to ensure the quality of education and give continuity to their school calendars, using various resources and methodologies.

Responses are being implemented in highly challenging contexts, especially considering the human mobility situation that our region has experienced in recent years and the actions that countries have had to implement in order to guarantee the right to education of migrants, asylum seekers, refugees and returnees.

The public health emergency can, at times, render invisible the situation of special vulnerability in which children and young people on the move are, and national actions are challenged to consider the structural and specific gaps that prevent this group from accessing services and benefits involved in the educational response. These gaps are often associated with immigration status, livability and lack of access to technologies and the internet.

The regional Webinar #1 "Guaranteeing the right to education of people on the move in the context of the public health emergency" offers a space to present and discuss the main challenges of the educational response aimed at displaced children and youth, as well as to exchange successful experiences in this field. The online event is aimed at professionals from the Ministries of Education working in the educational response, actors in the humanitarian sector and education in general.
