คู่มือเล่มนี้เป็นแนวทางสำหรับ UN และหน่วยงานอื่น ๆ ที่ทำงานร่วมกับองค์กรสื่อเพื่อส่งเสริมความเท่าเทียมทางเพศและป้องกันความรุนแรงต่อผู้หญิงและเด็กหญิง  จุดมุ่งหมายของคู่มือเล่มนี้คือกาทำงาร่วมกันกับสื่อเพื่อส่งเสริมความเท่าเทียมทางเพศในองค์กรและการทำงานกับสื่อเพื่อเป็นเครื่องมือในการส่งเสริมคุณค่าของความหลากหลาย ความเท่าเทียมและการไม่เลือกปฏิบัติผ่านการสร้างเนื้อหาที่สื่อผลิตขึ้น คู่มือเล่มนี้ประกอบไปด้วยคำแนะนำที่เฉพาะเจาะจงมากขึ้นเพื่อเป็นแนวทาง ว่าด้วย :

1) การสร้างสภาพแวดล้อมที่เอื้ออำนวย

2) การส่งเสริมแนวทางเชิงบวกของสถาบัน

The Handbook provides guidance to UN and other entitles working with media organizations to advance gender equality and prevent violence against women and girls.   Its focus is working with media as entities that promote gender equality within their organisations and working with media as a tool to promote values of diversity, equality and non-discrimination through the content produced.  The handbook provides specific guidance on 1) strengthening the enabling environment; 2) promoting positive institutional approaches; and 3) engaging with media for changing social norms.
