Ahlem MOSTEGHANEMI

Writer Ahlem Mosteghanemi was appointed UNESCO Artist for Peace in December 2016, in light of her commitment, through her writing, to causes such as social justice and the education of young people affected by armed conflicts.
Ms Mosteghanemi is widely regarded as one of the most read writers in the Arab world. Through her works, she provides unwavering support to intercultural dialogue, women's rights and the fight against violence.
In her capacity as a UNESCO Artist for Peace, she launched in September 2017 the initiative to create the largest writing workshop for young refugees in the Arab world. This project, sponsored by UNESCO, aims to give hope to young people and raise public awareness of the importance of supporting the education of young refugees.
