Oskar METSAVAHT

Oskar Metsavaht, a Brazilian fashion designer and founder of the company Osklen, was appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in May 2011. He received this title in light of his work to support UNESCO’s actions in favor of a culture of peace, social inclusion and sustainable development, focusing on youth as a priority.
As an environmental advocate, he launched the ‘e-brigade’ in 2002, an educational group of environmental activists and created an accompanying line of clothing made of recycled materials.
In 2011, he created the “E Institute” (Instituto-e), a non-profit organization located in Rio de Janeiro, dedicated to the promotion of sustainable human development.
As Vice-President of the Association of Businessmen and Entrepreneurs Friends of UNESCO, Mr Metsavaht promotes UNESCO’s values to the Brazilian population by large and the business community notably in the fields of sustainable development and climate change. In addition, he contributed to the success of the International Year for People of African Descent through his collection “Royal Black” in 2011, aiming to promote a greater knowledge of, and respect for, the diverse heritage and culture of people of African descent.
