Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay has denounced the killing of journalist Marwan Yousef, in Harad, Yemen, on 6 February.
I condemn the killing of Marwan Yousef. The work of the media is of paramount importance in times of conflict and I remind all parties of their internationally recognized duty to protect media workers in line with the Geneva Conventions.

Marwan Yousef, a journalist and photographer, was killed while covering clashes between government forces and Houthis.
UNESCO promotes the safety of journalists through global awareness-raising, capacity building and a range of actions, notably in the framework of the UN Plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity.
