Prevention of violence in educational institutions (Republic of Karelia)

The manual “Prevention of violence in educational institutions” is addressed to education managers and teachers working at general and vocational education organizations. The manual provides information about the possible causes of violence, its types, and consequences for the parties involved. The guidance is of a practical nature and offers administrative and educational measures, as well as algorithms for the managers, teachers, and other employees of an educational organization to prevent violence and resolve conflicts.

The first edition of this manual was prepared in 2016 with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk Region and the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE). The second, revised edition of the manual was prepared by the Altai Regional Institute for Advanced Training of Educators (currently the Altai Institute for the Development of Education named after A. M. Toporov) with the participation of institutes for advanced training of educators of the Kemerovo and Novosibirsk regions, the Republic of Altai and the Republic of Khakassia, and published with the support of UNESCO IITE.

The Karelian Education Development Foundation presents this third edition of the manual, published on the initiative of the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Republic of Karelia and sponsored by a grant from the Head of the Republic of Karelia. Teachers of the Department of Psychology of the Institute of Pedagogy and Psychology of Petrozavodsk State University took part in the preparation of this publication.
