In the framework of the new communication strategy with the African World Heritage Fund (AWHF), the World Heritage Centre (WHC), the Africa and Arab State units, and the AWHF held an online quarterly meeting on 22 September 2020.
The AWHF presented its Work plan for the 16 activities (from now until the beginning of 2021) including Online Nomination Training for African Countries, Training on the Desired State of Conservation for the Removal of the Property from the List of World Heritage in danger (DSOCR), Grant Evaluation Panel Meeting, Periodic Reporting workshops, Workshop on Entrepreneurship around World Heritage Sites in Africa, Strengthening Capacities of World Heritage Professionals in Africa and the Regional World Heritage Youth Forum.

The WHC suggested ways to collaborate (within the new communication strategy) in some activities that the Centre is already planning for its updated Capacity-building strategy, Training and extra-budgetary projects in Africa. The AWHF welcomed the initiative and confirmed its commitment to continue with these joint meetings with the Centre to discuss synergies and strengthen the collaboration between the WHC and AWHF.
