The OWHC’s Regional Secretariat for Northwest Europe publishes position paper
The Regional Secretariat Northwest Europe of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), one of the organization’s 8 regional secretariats, has recently published a position paper on “Safeguarding and Further Developing World Heritage Cities”.
Based on the experiences of its member cities, the paper addresses the challenges and experimented hands-on solutions to managing World Heritage as part of integrated urban development. Taking into account the UNESCO Recommendation on the Historic Urban Landscape (2011), the paper is intended to contribute to better understanding the role of local administrative actions in urban conservation and, ultimately, to serve as a basis for political advice at various administrative levels.
