Since 2012, Google has been working with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre to promote the Outstanding Universal Value of World Heritage sites. The partnership focuses on making World Heritage properties accessible to everyone through the Google’s World Wonders Project. The project offers people around the world the ability to visit the sites virtually in order to bring these cultural and natural treasures directly into everyone’s home. World Heritage properties can be explored by anyone with access to a computer and a wireless connection. Through its partnership with UNESCO World Heritage, Google not only enables internet users around the world to explore World Heritage sites but it also increases awareness about the need for their safeguarding and conservation. Since 2020, World Heritage sites can also be found through online exhibits shown on Google Arts & Culture.
