In the framework of the project Advancing Regional Cooperation to Promote the Right to Education for Persons with Disabilities, the Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MEFP), in its role as Executive Secretariat of the Ibero-American Intergovernmental Cooperation Network for the Education of Persons with Special Educational Needs (RIINEE), the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (OREALC/UNESCO, Santiago) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) through the Intercoonecta programme, are organising and convening the 17th Annual Plenary of the RIINEE Ibero-American Educational Cooperation Conference on Special Education and Educational Inclusion on 13 and 14 June.
The call for this XVII Conference is developed under the theme "Teacher training for the inclusion of students with disabilities in Latin America: good practices and challenges", and is aimed at those responsible for Special Education and/or Inclusive Education in the 19 member countries of the RIINEE, along with representatives of international organizations that collaborate with the network.
The meeting represents the spirit of South-South Cooperation, a broad framework of collaboration between southern countries in the political, economic, social, cultural, environmental and technical fields; a context in which developing countries share knowledge, skills, experiences and resources to achieve their development goals through joint efforts.
