Juliana Zapata
Research Officer

Juliana joined UNESCO in April 2020 to work on the thematic section of the Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM). Previously, she was an Education Research Associate at the UNICEF, Office of Research – Innocenti where she focused primarily on conducting education research on child-focused sport for development, private education in South Asia, and migration and education. She also worked at the OECD Directorate for Education and Skills on a range of education policy issues from early childhood education to equity and quality in schools. Juliana has contributed to the Education Policy Outlook and multiple country reviews, including the Education and Skills OECD Accession Review of Colombia. Juliana has also taught in primary schools in New York City and Paris. She holds a MA in Public Affairs from Sciences Po, a MS in Urban Education from Mercy College, and a BA in International Affairs from Tufts University.
