The sixth session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, in Room II (Fontenoy Building) from 29 to 30 March 2010. This session of the Council was followed by the 17th Bureau meeting on 31 March 2010, in Room XIV (Bonvin Building). All meetings took place from 9.30 to 12.30 in the morning and from 2.30 to 5.30 in the afternoon.
The Council is responsible for guiding the planning and the implementation of the Information for All Programme.
In particular the council did: review and assess IFAP achievements to date; consider ways for the expansion of the Programme and discuss fund-raising schemes for its successful implementation; define the main areas under IFAP’s mandate requiring increased international cooperation; further promote the involvement of Member States in the Programme; and recommend the future orientations and action lines for the Programme, in light of the Strategic Plan for IFAP endorsed by the Executive Board of UNESCO.

The fifth session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme was held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, from 2 to 4 April 2008 (two and a half days session), in Room II (Fontenoy Building). The Council session was followed by a half day Bureau meeting in the afternoon of 4 April 2008, in Room IX (Fontenoy Building). All meetings were from 9.30 to 12.30 in the morning and from 2.30 to 5.30 in the afternoon.
The Council is responsible for guiding the planning and implementation of the Information for All Programme.
In particular, the Council shall consider proposals on the development and adaptation of the Programme, recommend the broad lines of action that the Programme could take, review and assess achievements and define the basic areas requiring increased international cooperation, promote participation of Member States in the Programme and support all fund-raising efforts for its implementation.

Upon request of the Members the IFAP Bureau the Communication and Information Sector organized a thematic debate on “Infoethics” within the framework of the 9th session of the Bureau, on 15 September 2005 (UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, France).

The IFAP Bureau, in cooperation with the UNESCO Secretariat and the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, organized the First Consultation Meeting of IFAP National Committees. The meeting was hosted by the Russian IFAP Committee and the Interregional Library Cooperation Centre, and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of Russia and UNESCO.
The purpose of the meeting was to review and discuss a common approach to promoting the goals of Information for All Programme and to implementing IFAP’s Strategic Plan for 2008-2013, as endorsed by the UNESCO Executive Board in October 2008, at both the global and national levels.
