Applications for the 2019 Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize are now open

Applications for the 2019 Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize are now open.

They can be directly submitted by the Permanent Delegations of the Member States to UNESCO or by the National Commissions for UNESCO of the Member States via the following link www.unesco.org/hb-prize

All other entities wishing to submit an application should apply through the attached link  www.unesco.org/compte-hb

 

The deadline for submitting applications is February 28, 2019.

 

The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize was created in 1989 to honor individuals or public and private bodies or institutions that have made a significant contribution to promoting, seeking, safeguarding or maintaining peace in conformity with the United Nations’ Charter and the Constitution of UNESCO.

Past laureates of the Prize have included personalities such as French President François Hollande, Nelson Mandela and Frederik W. De Klerk; Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat; King Juan Carlos of Spain and former U.S.A. President, Jimmy Carter as well as Giuseppina Nicolini, former Mayor of Lampedusa (Italy) and the nongovernmental organization SOS Mediterranean.
